Coconut Milk Shampoo..

I'm always on the lookout for new recipes so thought I'd give this one a go ..

You will need,

Half a cup of coconut milk

Half a cup of Castille soap ( I used Bronners pure unscented)

1 teaspoon of coconut oil

1 teaspoon of vit e oil ( I used an evening primrose oil capsule, but olive oil would work just fine)

A few drops of your fave essential oil ( optional )

A clean jar with lid

Combine all the ingredients in a clean jar , put on the lid and shake .. The coconut oil if solid can be melt in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds ....

You use about a teaspoon to 2 teaspoons depending on hair length ..and it will keep in the bathroom cupboard for a month :-) xx

Children's book plans ..

So next year I'm taking some time out to write a children's book .. I'm sat here today , covered in a blanket and a cat and writing down some ideas for my book , a lot of research will have to be done but I'm passionate about this area so that's a head start isn't it ? I'm also writing our loose plan for the upcoming Home Ed year and we have lots of plans for new skills to learn and a year long adventure in tents .. Exploring and absorbing nature as we go .. I can't wait xx

Life Cycle ..

It's a planning kind of a day here today , planning ahead , making goals and processing thoughts about change .. It seems like I'm rushing and you'd be right in thinking I wanted this year gone .. I do .. I'm anxious for it to disappear .. Don't get me wrong I'm not wishing my life away .. Just this year ..next year is a big year and I have so much I want to achieve both family wise and personally .. But I'm not setting myself impossible goals .. Just small focused tasks .. A trip out to my garden has reminded me that although we are in the dormant period there are still signs of new life , growth , change ..and as I sit looking at these new shoots I'm reminded once more of the cycle of the year .. How important it is and ..how bloody fast it turns around .. It only seems five minutes ago I was harvesting garlic and yet , here we are again .. It goes on ..

Traditions..

Today I changed our table to reflect the winter months .. One of the few simple traditions we have kept over the last few years , it helps tie us , weld us to the gentle rhythm of the year .. It also helps my Reu ..gives him a feeling of calm , brings some sense and order to a world that he struggles to understand .. This year I have started to introduce a few new traditions .. The months of the year are brought to us with the simple swapping of a picture to show him where we are in the year

The lighting of a candle at dinner time , this calms him in readiness for meals .. And the introduction of a moon jar and a moon tale on the eve of every full moon , a very difficult time for him , but turned into a positive experience and something to look forward to instead of dread.

And a new December tradition .. Rascal reindeer , he hides from us every day and our job is to find him , using the hot cold method .. It brings shrieks of excitement between the boys , where will he be next .. I hope to introduce more , slowly ..as we move from this year to the next.

Gratitude Sunday *

{Sunday's heartfelt tradition. A time to slow down, to reflect, to be grateful. A list of gratitudes.}

This week , I have mostly been grateful for sunny days with only the slightest nip in the air , allowing us all to finish the majority of the plot clearing .

For gorgeous blooms of flowers for that last minute splash of colour before winter takes hold.

For visits from Aunty Marge , I love to hear her stories .

For Spring bulbs arriving by post to plant now ready for a splash of colour .

And for friends .. True friends who continue to pop in or message ,with laughter and gifts of time to listen ..
